A big thank you to the Alton Mill Gallery Committee for volunteering to dismantle, clean and install the new Preview Exhibition at the Alton Mill Gallery. A special thank you is extended to John Ashbourne who generously contributed peg board, paint and time, in order to create even more display space at the Mill. The energy, dedication and care that everyone took with this project was amazing.
The new exhibition truly showcases the incredible talent we have here in the Hills of Headwaters. Be sure to come by and get a taste of what is to come this fall at the Festival Art Show & Sale. The Show runs from July 4 - October 26.
If you are interested in helping with this committee please email -info@headwatersartsfestival.com More volunteers are needed.
We are currently planning a fundraiser to raise money for further improvements to the gallery (i.e. lighting, painting). More information on Mystery Mini Masterpieces --to follow!

Headwaters Arts
Since 1996, Headwaters Arts Festival has been promoting art created in the Headwaters region and encouraging interaction among artists and the community. Its signature event is an annual Festival that includes a juried art show and sale, authors’ night, kid’s activities, music.
Headwaters Arts Network is a grassroots, artist-driven organization born out of consultative meetings with artists in the region. With the help of a Trillium Foundation Grant, the group created an action plan to meet collective needs identified by the artists.
Realizing we had two organizations with similar goals and ambitious plans – and not enough people/resources to implement them fully – in 2008 the two groups agreed to join forces, creating a new organization called Headwaters Arts.
Headwaters Arts is a not-for-profit, volunteer-driven, membership organization. We serve as an umbrella multi-discipline arts organization for the Headwaters region.
Headwaters Arts exists… To bring together artists and supporters to promote the development, appreciation and enjoyment of all arts in the Hills of Headwaters.
Vision: We want to be able to state with confidence that…
- The Hills of Headwaters region is a widely recognized centre for artistic excellence: - Location of choice for artists seeking a nurturing, collaborative community; - Home to residents and businesses that value, support and participate in the arts - Renowned destination for tourists seeking high-quality – and fun – arts experiences
Objectives: We fulfill our mission by…
- Seeking to provide artists of all ages and at all stages of their career with greater exposure, recognition, sales, networking opportunities and professional development - Creating opportunities for the community-at-large to enjoy and participate in the arts - Nurturing the next generation of artists and art lovers - Engaging in collaborative marketing efforts to promote – within and outside our community – all forms of art produced in the Hills of Headwaters - Mounting an annual Headwaters Arts Festival
